I am a young professional working in the Boston area. Currently, I am a product designer for an education company. I enjoy being able to design and create products that young students can learn from! When I am not working, I enjoy baking, watching Netflix (right now my favorite show is Girlboss), and all things art. This is what led me to want to explore and discuss art related topics each week. I am really passionate about the arts and educating young people about how important creativity is. When I was younger I never really had any passion for art. I was never the stereotypical great painter so I thought I just wasn't creative. As I grew up, I started to understand that you didn't have to be an amazing painter to be an artist or creative for that matter. This revelation led me to a career in UX design. UX designers have to be creative every single day and they aren't always the best drawers or painters.
Students should be encouraged to be creative even after they learn to paint and draw in elementary school. Once you get to high school you really loose that freedom of just creating and exploring art. The arts should be nourished and really encouraged and they really just aren't. This is something that has to change and I hope to educate people about the importance of the arts.
